Weapons included in this section are used with melee combat skills, including but not limited to Hack, Swing, and Stab. They are categorized by group, i.e. Knives, Batons, Mauls, etc., and the Weapon Proficiency skill allows for the use of any weapon in the group without suffering modifiers. A separate Weapon Proficiency skill is required for each weapon group and using weapons without the skill  carries a Difficult (-4) modifier to any action taken with the weapon.

Notes:

Any small, sharpened weapons wielded in one hand by a handle is classified as a knife, with stats similar to those listed. Makeshift devices reduce the SF and critical range by 1. These weapons are typically sold with a sheath that is appropriate to its type and class, and those listed with a range may be thrown.

Notes:

These weapons have a striking head that is separated from the handle and attached by some type of flexible rope, strap, or chain. The striking head is precisely weighted to the length of cord, and a hit negates an opponent’s ability to block or parry the attack.
